Canadian rapper Tory Lanez has been found guilty of shooting of hip hop star Megan Thee Stallion. The 30-year-old is guilty of three firearms offences, a jury ruled Thursday.
The jury of seven women and five men deliberated before convicting Lanez of assault with a semi-automatic firearm; having a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle; and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.
The rapper, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, could face up to 22 years in prison. As a next step into Lanez’s trouble, his legal team will have a chance to appeal the decision.

The date of his sentencing remains unclear.
Lanez, real name Daystar Peterson, was wearing a powder pink winter coat, with matching trousers, as the verdict was delivered in a Los Angeles courtroom.
During the trial, his lawyer alleged that the shots were actually been fired by a best friend of Stallion, Kelsey Harris, during a jealous fight over Lanez.
“She lied about everything in this case from the beginning,” attorney George Mgdesyan said.
Megan Thee Stallion, whose legal name is Megan Pete, said last week: “I’m in shock. I’m scared. I hear the gun going off, and I can’t believe he’s shooting at me.”

“I can’t hold conversations with people for a long time. I don’t feel like I want to be on this earth. I wish he would have just shot and killed me, if I knew I would have to go through this torture,” Pete, 27, told members of the jury.
After Pete’s statements, the prosecution’s key witness, Kelsey Harris, recanted her statement.
