Who is James William Goodman, Len Goodman’s son?

Len Goodman, a former professional ballroom dancer and ex-judge of Dancing With The Stars, died at the age of 78.

“It is with great sadness to announce that Len Goodman has passed away peacefully,” Jackie Gill, Goodman’s manager confirmed the news to USA Today. He had been battling bone cancer. He is survived by his wife, Sue Barrett, and his son, James William Goodman.

Goodman died on Saturday at hospice care surrounded by his family in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.

Who is James William Goodman?

James Goodman was born on January 26, 1981, in Bethnal Green. He followed in his father’s footsteps and chose a career as a dancer. He is an established Latin ballroom dancer who teaches at the ballroom dancing school, Goodman Dance Academy. Len set up after retiring from the entertainment industry.

He was also a judge at a charity dance event organized in Northampton by Step by Step Dance School, in aid of Cynthia Spencer Hospice. He is married to Sophie Goodman. The couple shares two children together. Their daughter, Alice, was born in 2015. Their son, Dan, was born in 2019.

Back when he was judging the charity dance competition, James made fun of his father’s strict style of judging, which quickly became iconic over the years. He said: “I am much more generous with my marks than Len.”

Len shared James with Lesley, a woman with whom he had a relationship but never got married. When James was just 12, they got divorced. After they split, James moved to the Isle of Wight with his mother.

He then married Sue Barrett in 2012.
