Kim Phuong Taylor, the wife of Woodbury County Supervisor Jeremy Taylor, is charged with 52 counts of voter fraud for allegedly using a conspiracy to falsely complete absentee ballot applications and voter registration forms and cast absentee ballots on behalf of other people.

The filling out and casting of absentee ballots occurred during Taylor’s unsuccessful bid for Congress in the 2020 primary election and his re-election to the county board in the subsequent autumn general election.

Who is Kim Phuong Taylor?

Born in 1973, Kim Phuong Taylor is the wife of Republican politician Jeremy Taylor. 

According to Jeremy’s official biography, the couple met while Jeremy Taylor was teaching at a university in Vietnam. They have six kids.

In the Republican primary in 2020, Jeremy Taylor lost his bid for a seat in the U.S. House after receiving only approximately 8% of the vote. In the subsequent general election, he was successful in regaining his position on the Woodbury County Board of Supervisors.

Kim Phuong Taylor was charged with more than 50 counts of voter fraud in 2023, including providing false information while registering or voting, fraudulent registration, and fraudulent voting, according to a press release from the Department of Justice.

Kim Taylor is accused of providing false information on voter registration forms, absentee ballot requests, and absentee ballots, as well as encouraging others to do the same. According to the Justice Department, Taylor allegedly signed documents for voters without their permission and told others that they could sign for people who were not present.

According to the indictment, the prosecution claims that Phuong Taylor perpetrated the same deception prior to the November 2020 election in which Jeremy Taylor was chosen to serve on the Woodbury County Board. The indictment does not mention Jeremy Taylor, and he is not charged with any crimes.

John Greer of Spencer, Iowa, who represents Kim Phuong Taylor, declined to comment on the accusations, according to the Journal.
