Hector Bonilla, the Mexican actor who was a part of the holiday film Grumpy Christmas, has died aged 83. Bonilla was one of the most revered actors of Mexico. His career began in 1967 with minor television appearances and carried on till 2021.
His son, Fernando Bonilla, revealed the news of his death via a post on Twitter. Bonilla also shared a statement that read, “We are aware that Hector left an immeasurable legacy and many hearts will mourn his departure,” further adding, “As he wanted, we share with you the epitaph that Héctor wrote for himself several years ago: ‘The show is over. Don’t be fu**ing ****. He who saw me, he saw me. Nothing remains'”.

Reports suggest that the actor had been suffering from cancer for quite some time. The country’s Secretary of Culture offered his condolences on Twitter and called the veteran performer, “one of the best actors from Mexico.”
Who was Héctor Bonilla?
Héctor Bonilla, whose full name is Héctor Hermilo Bonilla Rebentun, was born on March 14, 1939. He is the son of Rodolfo Bonilla Cortés and Leonor Rebentún. There is not much information available about the actor’s early life or his education.
Bonilla began his acting career with the Mexican telenovela, La casa de las fieras. He went on to act in a number of such productions before beginning his film career in 1974.

His first work for the big screen was on Meridiano 100, for which Bonilla was awarded an Ariel Award for Best Actor. Some of his other major films were Red Dawn and Rojo Amanecer.
The veteran actor had lent his voice for the Disney film Coco’s Spanish dub. He was a part of the Netflix holiday film, Grumpy Christmas.
Socorro Bonilla was his first wife. The former couple were parents to two children. He later married Sofia Alvarez in 1985 and fathered one daughter with her.
