Who was Milko Skofic, Gina Lollobrigida’s ex-husband?

Gina Lollobrigida, the Italian film actress who became one of Europe’s first major sex symbols died on Monday. She was 95 years old. She was known for her razor-sharp wit and sensual beauty.

Lollobrigida’s death was confirmed on social media by Italy’s culture minister, Gennaro Sangiuliano. Mr. Sangiuliano said goodbye to a “big screen diva” on Twitter.

Lollobrigida had already appeared in over a dozen European films by the time she made her first English-language film, John Huston’s 1953 camp drama Beat the Devil, in which she played Humphrey Bogart’s wife and accomplice.

That film, along with her performance in Fanfan la Tulipe, an Italian-French period comedy released in the United States the same year, landed her on the cover of Time magazine in 1954.
