Wisconsin governor tells Trump, planned Kenosha visit will only hinder our healing

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers sent a letter to US President Donald Trump on Monday, asking him to reconsider his visit. It “will only hinder our healing,” the letter read. Trump is due to travel on Tuesday to the Midwestern city to meet law enforcement officials and assess the damage from unrest triggered by Blake’s shooting last weekend.

Wisconsin was gripped by protest after Jacob Blake, a Black man was shot seven times in the back by police officer Rusten Sheskey, as they were attempting to arrest him. Meanwhile, the President on Sunday condemned the ongoing protests in Portland, where a man was shot following a clash between Trump supporters and protesters.
Trump attacked Wheeler, a Democrat, for refusing help from the National Guard, which he said “could solve these problems in less than 1 hour.” He said that Wheeler is incompetent, much like “Sleepy Joe Biden.” He referred to the protestors as “agitators and thugs,” and called his supporters “GREAT PATRIOTS,” in a series of tweets.
Meanwhile, Ted Wheeler, the Mayor of Portland, blasted Trump in a press conference on Sunday.

“Do you seriously wonder, Mr. President, why this is the first time in decades that America has seen this level of violence? It’s you who have created the hate and division,” Wheeler told reporters. He also requested the President to either “support them or stay the hell out of their way.”
Biden’s campaign said, he will give a speech Monday to address what it called, a key question voters are facing, “Are you safe in Donald Trump’s America?”
