Working in front of digital screens all day is known to hamper eye health. While one cannot skip work obligations, incorporating simple eye exercises can reduce eye strain and lower the risk of developing eye diseases such as myopia, cataract and age-related degeneration.

Here are 3 easy exercises to improve eyesight, according to Namita Piparaiya, a specialist of Yoga and Ayurveda.

1. Distant gazing

This exercise is effective for those who spend the day working on phone or laptop screens. To perform this exercise, simply take some time off from focusing on a small screen and go outside. Watch over a view and notice how far your eyes allow you to see. This simple exercise allows the eyes to wander naturally and observe things far away. Distant gazing can also help the brain and improve cognitive abilities.

2. Palming technique

Place both of your palms together and rub them until warm. Then, gently place the palms over your closed eyes, thus creating a dark vision. Make sure that during the exercise, minimum light seeps in through the gaps of your hands. Once the warmth dissipates, repeat the process and gently open your eyes.

This exercise is not time-consuming and can easily be practiced during a quick break. It can also enhance mindfulness and reduce stress.

3. Sideways rolling

Sideways rolling is an easy yet highly effective technique to improve vision. To perform this exercise, you will need a pencil, pen, or your index finger. Simply place the object in front of you at your eye level. Then focus on the tip of the pen/pencil/finger and take a few deep breaths.
