Ajax player Daley blind collapses on field, heart defibrillator stops during game

Footballer Daley Blind collapsed on the field during Ajax’s pre-season friendly against Hertha Berlin on Tuesday. Daley dropped to he ground in the second-half of the match while his teammates rushed to his side.
According to Goal, Daley was diagnosed with inflammation of the heart muscle last year in December after suffering dizziness during Ajax’s Champions League defeat against Valencia. The 30-year-old was fitted with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) after the incident and he returned for training in February.
On Tuesday, Daley’s ICD sent an alert as he fell on the ground. Ajax coach Erik ten Haag told Ziggo Sport, “Daley Blind’s ICD went off. He got subbed off straight away and he is feeling OK now, he is feeling fine. We will do research about this now.” He will now face another spell on the sidelines while doctors determine what caused the collapse.
Daley joined Ajax’s youth academy and then made his debut for the team in 2008. The Dutch international made a move to Manchester United before returning in 2018. He has played over 350 matches across 12 years including 69 caps for the Netherlands.
