Centre deputes 4-member team to probe post-poll violence in West Bengal

  • The four-member team would reach the state on Thursday
  • At least six people have been killed in different parts of West Bengal in post-poll violence

The Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday deputed a four-member team to probe post-poll violence in West Bengal. The team, led by an Additional Secretary of the ministry, will visit West Bengal to look into the reasons for violence, in which at least six people have been killed, according to PTI. 

The four-member team would reach the state on Thursday to assess the ground situation, officials said, reports PTI.

This comes a day after the home ministry sent a reminder to the West Bengal government to submit a detailed report on the post-poll violence. The MHA also asked the Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government to take necessary measures to stop such incidents from happening in different parts of the state “without any loss of time”.
