India records 23,285 new COVID-19 cases, 117 deaths in last 24 hours

  • The total number of coronavirus-induced deaths has now reached 158,306
  • There are 197,237 active COVID-19 cases in the country
  • 10,953,303 people have recovered from the deadly virus

India on Thursday recorded 23,285 new cases of coronavirus, taking its tally to 11,308,846, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s data released on Friday showed. A total of xx deaths were recorded in the past 24 hours. The total number of coronavirus-induced deaths has now reached 158,306.

According to the data, there are 197,237 active COVID-19 cases in the country, while 10,953,303 have recovered.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that 224,998,638 samples were tested for the novel coronavirus on Thursday. 

According to PTI, 29,441 beneficiaries in Delhi were administered with COVID-19 vaccine shots on Thursday, while two senior citizens died in West Bengal allegedly after being administered coronavirus vaccine shots.

The incident has prompted the state’s health department to launch a probe. A senior official told PTI, “Two deaths occurred in North Bengal districts on March 8 and March 9 after they were inoculated with the Covishield vaccine. Initial assessment revealed multiple cardiac problems…”
