India records 53,601 COVID-19 cases in 24 hours, 871 new deaths
- A total of 45,257 people have died from coronavirus in India
- The total number of cases now stand at 22,68,676
- 15,83,490 patients have recovered from COVID-19 in India

India recorded 53,601 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases in country to 22,68,676, according to data released by the Union Health Ministry.
A total of 871 new deaths were recorded, taking the death toll to 45,257.
The total number of active cases currently stand at 6,39,929 while 15,83,490 patients have recovered.
India remains the third worst-hit country in the world after the US and Brazil. The global COVID-19 tally crossed the 20 million mark on Monday while over 750,000 people have died from the deadly virus worldwide.
