Ten people dead in Raigad building collapse, rescue operation underway

Eight people were killed after a five-storeyed residential building collapsed in Maharashtra’s Raigad district on Monday, Raigad District Collector Nidhi Chaudhari said, ANI reported.
So far, bodies of ten people have been recovered and one child has been rescued from the debris. Rescue operations are underway
Meanwhile, the Raigad Police has filed a case against five people over the incident, ANI reported.
As per PTI reports, a 10-year old Tarek Garden building collapsed at Kajalpura in Mahad tehsil, Raigad at 7:00 pm on Monday. As it collapsed, 70 people in the building ran out and managed to save their lives, the official said.
Teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were moved to the spot for rescue operations.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Monday spoke to the district officials and asked them to expedite the rescue and relief work, PTI reported quoting an official.
Video of the incident was widely shared on social media, which showed a plume of dust rising from where the building had stood. Another video showed police trying to control several onlookers gathered at the collapse site.
