West Bengal on Thursday recorded the highest single-day spike of 11,948 new COVID-19 cases, reported PTI. 56 people died of the disease in the past 24 hours.

Although there is an unprecedented surge in COVID-19 cases across India, the rise in West Bengal is crucial as the state witnessed huge political rallies due to the ongoing Assembly polls.
India on Wednesday logged the world’s highest single-day rise of 314,835 new COVID-19 cases. As many as 2,104 people died of the disease, taking the death toll to 184,657.
