The English opener gave his side the ideal start in the chase of India’s imposing 337-run target, sharing a 110-run partnership with Jason Roy (55) for the first wicket. This was the 13th time the duo shared a century-stand for England, surpassing the previous record, of 12, held by Joe Root and Eoin Morgan.
The 31-year-old showed no signs of slowing down after Roy’s dismissal, a run out following a sharp fielding effort by Rohit Sharma, quickly bringing up a century stand with Ben Stokes as England took control of the chase.

Bairstow and Stokes’ rampage included 17 sixes and 15 fours between them, as the duo scored 175 runs from just 18.5 overs, including a brutal four over-period, wherein they scored 72 runs.
Stokes was unlucky to miss out on a richly deserved century, dismissed on 99, from just 52 deliveries, by Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Meanwhile, a century from KL Rahul (108) and fifties from skipper Virat Kohli (66) and Rishabh Pant (77) guided India to 336 runs for the loss of six wickets from 50 overs.
India are currently leading the three-match series 1-0.
