An Air Asia flight had to abort takeoff after it was hit by a bird at the Ranchi airport on Saturday. Flight i5-632 was scheduled to fly to Mumbai from Ranchi. All passengers of the flight were safe, news agency ANI quoted an airport official, as saying.

The aircraft suffered bird hit moments before the takeoff. The aircraft was taken to the technical area of the airport for checks and will be allowed to fly only after getting clearance.

The incident at Ranchi’s Birsa Munda Airport came less than 24 hours after an Air India Express flight crashed while landing at the Kozhikode airport killing 18 passengers on Friday evening.

According to reports, the Boeing 737 jet had attempted to land twice at the runway before the fatal touchdown amid heavy rains.

Both the pilots were killed in the crash.
