All Delhi schools being closed due to COVID-19 spike, says CM Arvind Kejriwal

Due to the rising COVID-19 cases spike, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, on Friday, said that all schools in the national capital region are being closed for all classes till further orders.
Delhi on Wednesday recorded 7,437 new COVID-19 cases, hitting a new high in terms of single-day spikes this year. 24 deaths, too, were recored. Active COVID-19 cases currently stand at 23,181, whereas the total case tally stands at 6,98,005.

This also accounted for a jump of 1,931 cases from 5,506, the number of daily infections recorded on Tuesday.
According to a report in PTI, out of the 8,813 hospital beds available in Delhi, 4,212 were occupied whereas 4,601 were vacant. Out of the 5,525 dedicated COVID-19 testing centres, on the other hand, 100 were occupied and 5,417 were vacant.
Thursday, however, marked the third consecutive day for Delhi to record more than 5,000 daily cases.

To date, the largest single-day spike in Delhi was witnessed on November 11, 2020, when it recorded 8,593 COVID-19 cases in a day.
