All England Open: PV Sindhu suffers yet another semifinal exit

Ace Indian shuttler PV Sindhu suffered yet another semifinal exit from the All England Championships, with the reigning world champion losing in straight games against Thailand’s Pornpawee Chochuwong on Saturday. 

A tame performance saw the Olympic silver medallist Sindhu losing 17-21, 9-21 against the world number 11 Thai within 43 minutes. Sindhu had previously lost at the semifinal stage in 2018. 

The world number seven Sindhu came into the tie with a 4-1 head-to-head record against 23-year-old Chochuwong, having beaten her in their last meeting at teh BWF World Tour Finals in January. 

However, the stats were irrelevant in the encounter with the Thai faster, stronger and more precise than her opponent. 

Chochuwong will face the winner between compatriot R Intanon and N Okuhara in the final.
