Allahabad High Court to get 11 more judges after Supreme Court collegium nod

A Supreme Court has approved the elevation of 11 judicial officers as judges of the Allahabad High Court, ANI UP reported on Friday. According to Bar and Bench, the SC collegium on Thursday approved the proposal.

The HC has sanctioned strength of 160 judges but was functioning with 96 judges, as on February 1. With SC’s approval, the vacancy will come down from 64 to 53. 

The 11 names recommended are Mohammad Aslam, Anil Kumar Gupta, Anil Kumar Ojha, Sadhna Rani (Thakur), Om Prakash Tripathi, Naveen Srivastava, Umesh Chandra Sharma, Syed Aftab Husain Rizvi, Ajai Tyagi, Syed Waiz Mian, and Ajai Kumar Srivastava-I.
