Rajasthan Royals’ Riyan Parag, the boy from the land of Bihu, who entertained us in the previous season of the Indian Premier League with his fine batting ability and sleek dancing skills, has once again hogged the limelight with the most bizarre bowling action during the match against Punjab Kings on Monday.

Against Chris Gayle, the 19-year-old from Assam while bowling a spell of his regular legbreak, spiced it up with a Kedar Jadhav-esque variation with the bowling arm nearly perpendicular to the body.

Although such deliveries aren’t exactly new to the cricketing world, the likes of Ravi Ashwin and Kedar Jadhav have already walked in similar footsteps. Yet, Parag’s bowling action did intrigue the commentators and made presenter Harsha Bhogle question, “How low is legal round arm?”

While the legality of the delivery will be discussed in the following days throughout the cricketing circuit, the antics of the young man did eventually manage to faze Gayle, as the West Indian ended up throwing away his wicket in the very over.

However, Parag bowled only a single over, giving up seven runs and scalping the all-important wicket.

Twitterati couldn’t miss the opportunity to churn out some memes as one user humoured, “Riyan Parag is the first bowler to give himself a no ball.”
