- Am a free citizen of India - people will protect me, she tweeted
Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra on Saturday took to Twitter to share an image of three Border Security Force personnel with assault rifles outside her home in New Delhi. Claiming that she is under some sort of surveillance, the TMC MP has requested Delhi Police to remove the BSF soldiers. “3 BSF men w/ assault rifles outside my home. Say they are from Barakhamba Road police station for my “protection”. Still outside my home. Am a free citizen of India – people will protect me. Request Honb’le HM @AmitShah Ji & @HMOIndia to remove immediately,” she tweeted.
She said that SHO of Barakhamba Police Station met her on Friday evening and ever since these security personnel have been stationed outside her residence.
The TMC MP has been news from the past few days because of her fiery speech against the Centre in the Lok Sabha during the ongoing Budget session. She also criticised the judiciary and her remarks against a former Chief Justice of India didn’t go well with the ruling party members. BJP leaders Nishikant Dubey and PP Chowdhary moved a privilege notice against Moitra over her remarks.
During her speech on the Motion of Thanks debate, without naming any individual, she said that the judiciary has failed in its duty.
Talking to NDTV, she said that it was typical BJP tactics. “If you can’t get them with the CBI or ED, then try every dirty trick in the book.”
