As India is celebrating the 71st National Constitution Day, the Union Ministers of Home Affairs, Defence, Women and Child Development, Law and Justice and many others took to the microblogging website, Twitter and wished their followers. On this day, in 1949, India formally adopted its Constitution.

“Our progressive constitution is the greatest strength of India’s unity and development. Today, on Constitution Day, I bow to Babasaheb, the architect of the Indian Constitution,” Amit Shah tweeted in Hindi.

Meanwhile, Smriti Irani said that we should carry forward the philosophy and values of the constitution and contribute to ensure progress and prosperity in the country.

“On #SamvidhanDiwas let us affirm our pledge towards upholding Constitutional values and strengthen our commitment toward rights and duties,” Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad tweeted.

Here are some other wishes from union ministers:

The longest written constitution in the world, which was first planned out in 1928, lays down the framework specifying fundamental political code, structure, procedures, powers, and duties of government institutions and sets out fundamental rights, duties and directive principles of Indian citizens.
