Babri demolition verdict highlights: Welcome the judgment, say Advani, Joshi after acquittal

All 32 accused, including senior BJP leaders LK Advani, MM Joshi, Uma Bharti have been acquitted in the Babri Masjid demolition case by a Special CBI court in Lucknow. Reading out the over 2000-page verdict, Judge SK Yadav said that the demolition of the 15th century mosque in Ayodhya was not pre-planned. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) also welcomed the verdict and called for harmony among sections of the society. Among the key accused in the case were veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders Lal Krishna Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Uma Bharti. Kalyan Singh, who was the UP Chief Minister when the mosque was razed by a mob of angry kar-sevaks on December 6, 1992, was also an accused in the case.
