Babri mosque demolished by anti-national elements: What the judge said in his order

Special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court Judge Surendra Kumar Yadav on Wednesday acquitted all 32 accused, including senior
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders LK Advani, MM Joshi, Uma Bharti and Kalyan
Singh, in the 28-year-old Babri masjid demolition case.

The Supreme
Court had extended Judge SK Yadav’s term by over a year to allow him to deliver
a verdict in the case. He was set to retire on September 30 last year. The apex
court had earlier set an August 31 deadline for the verdict.

Here are a
few important points made by Judge SK Yadav, reported NDTV.

1. Evidence
against them is not solid, audio and video recordings placed in court (by CBI) are
not verifiable.

2. Babri
Masjid demolition was not pre-planned.

3. The mosque
was brought down by anti-national elements.

4. The accused
were trying to control the crowds.

5. The audio
of the speech is not clear.

The 16th
century Babri Masjid was demolished on December 6, 1992 by Kar Sevaks, sparking
communal clashes across the country.

The 32
accused faced charges under several sections of the Indian Penal Code,
including criminal conspiracy, rioting, promoting enmity between different
groups and unlawful assembly.

LK Advani,
MM Joshi, Kalyan Singh, Uma Bharti, Satish Pradhan and Mahant Nritya Gopal Das
attended the proceedings via video conferencing, while twenty-six others,
including Sadhvi Ritambhara, Sakshi Maharaj, Champat Rai Bansal and Pawan
Pandey were present in the court.
