Salman Khan stated that the drug angle in the plot of ‘Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai’ had been filmed before the Narcotics Control Bureau’s (NCB) investigation into Bollywood’s alleged drug links.

During a Zoom roundtable interview on Monday night from Mumbai, Khan clarified that the drug angle in his upcoming film, Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai, predates the NCB’s investigation into an alleged drug racket in Bollywood.

Salman is playing the role of an encounter specialist tackling the drug menace in Mumbai in his upcoming film, Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai, which is slated to stream on multiple platforms, including OTT and DTH services, on May 13.

The upcoming film, which reunites Salman Khan with his “Wanted” director Prabhudheva, is in the same vein as the 2009 actioner— which was a major hit.

In a Zoom press conference from Mumbai, Salman said that the shoot of Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai had been completed prior to the NCB investigation.

“It has been a problem for a long time. Even before this drugs investigation took over Maharashtra, we had already completed shooting the film. But now it became relevant. I have always been against drugs. Here, people are misusing it. We have nieces and nephews who are very young and might get influenced,” he said in response to PTI’s question during a Zoom roundtable interview on Monday night from Mumbai.

“As soon as you take it (drugs), you are done…your body and mind both will want it so you will have to be ten times stronger. But most of them don’t have that in them to do that. Families go through problems, then siblings go through problems. So in Radhe, we have touched upon this subject…a man who goes on to clean up the city,” he added.

The NCB opened a probe into opioid use in the film industry last year, following the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Several Bollywood actors, including Deepika Padukone, Arjun Rampal, Shraddha Kapoor, and Sara Ali Khan, were questioned.

Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai, directed by Prabhudeva, has a star cast including Disha Patani, Jackie Shroff, and Randeep Hooda. Originally scheduled for theatrical release in Eid 2020, the film was postponed by one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
