Melania
Trump seemingly made a mark on the White House grounds that, according to a
statement by the First Lady as quoted by Bloomberg, “will
function as both a place of leisure and gathering for future First
Families,” the news agency reported on Monday.

The
projects seeks to refurbish the existing White House tennis court and the
grandchildren’s building, erecting a 1200 square-feet building on the South Lawn.
With the construction having begun in last October, the architecture of choice
has been the neoclassical Federal style, as favoured by President Donald Trump,
according to a proposal by the National Park Service which maintains the White
house grounds.

The
south grounds have historically been used as a place for recreation for
Presidents since years, with each president leaving a mark in the garden.

Among
the Presidents, Jimmy Carter had built a treehouse for his daughter, whereas
Bill Clinton opted a seven-seat hot tub. Barack Obama, in more recent times,
added Basketball court lines and removable baskets where he could play if he wanted.

The
First Lady’s project received backlash in March as Trump posted a tweet in her
handle consisting of the updates to the development of the pavilion.

The
original proposal for the pavilion states that it will not be affecting any historic
resources or artifacts.
