Bihar’s Gopalganj Assembly constituency is a BJP stronghold

Polling for the Gopalganj Assembly constituency will be held on November 3, in Phase III of the Bihar Assembly polls. Votes
will be counted on November 10.

The assembly constituency is
currently held by Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Subash
Singh who defeated Reyajul Haque of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in 2015. The seat, one of Bihar’s
243 assembly constituencies, falls under the Gopalganj Lok Sabha constituency.

The Gopalganj Lok Sabha
constituency is currently held by Dr.
Alok Kumar Suman of Janata Dal
(United), who defeated Surendra Ram of RJD.

The Gopalganj Assembly
constituency is an unreserved seat. The seat has been a BJP stronghold since
2005 and has been held by BJP MLA Subash Singh since then. He defeated RJD’s
Reyajul Haque in all the three assembly elections. It was held by Haque for a brief
period in 2005, when he defeated Singh in February 2005. But as the assembly
was dissolved and elections held again, Haque was defeated by Singh later that
year.
