With Trivendra Singh Rawat resigning as the Uttarakhand Chief Minister on Tuesday, reports said that the Bharatiya Janata Party is planning to appoint a Deputy CM. PTI reported that Pushkar Singh Dhami, a member of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly from the Khatima constituency, is the frontrunner for the post of deputy chief minister.

Trivendra Singh Rawat submitted his resignation to Governor Baby Rani Maurya on Tuesday, a day after he met the BJP bigwigs in Delhi.

In a press conference after submitting his resignation, Rawat thanked BJP for giving him the opportunity to serve as the CM of the state.

“The party gave me a golden opportunity to serve this State for four years. I had never thought that I would get such an opportunity. The party has now decided that the opportunity to serve as CM should be given to someone else now,” Trivendra Singh Rawat added, ANI reported.

Meanwhile, names of state minister Dhan Singh Rawat and two other BJP Members of the Parliament from Uttarakhand, Ajay Bhatt and Anil Bulani, have emerged as a potential frontrunner to assume the designation of Chief Minister in the state.
