The Centre told the Supreme Court on Thursday that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will adopt a 30:30:40 formula for assessment of marks of class 12 students based on results of class 10, 11 and 12 respectively.

Earlier, the committee formed by the CBSE to discuss the evaluation of class 12 results suggested the formula – 30% weightage to class 10 and class 11 results each, and 40% weightage to class 12 pre-board exams. Practicals will be evaluated for 100 marks and it will be based on marks submitted by schools, reported NDTV.

A bench of Justices AM Khanwilkar and Dinesh Maheshwari was told by Attorney General K K Venugopal that CBSE students who are not satisfied with the evaluation formula will be given an opportunity to take up Class 12 examination when the pandemic situation becomes conducive.

Sanyam Bharadwaj, the Controller of Exams of CBSE, said that the board would help schools to compute results based on evaluation criteria by “establishing a help desk in CBSE and also by providing software support in addition to several other supports to the committee in preparing the result”, reported NDTV.
