CJI SA Bobde wanted Shahrukh Khan as mediator in Ayodhya Ram temple dispute

Outgoing Chief Justice of India Sharad Arvind Bobde, had wanted Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan to be a mediator in the Ayodhya Ram temple-Babri mosque dispute, reported PTI.

Vikas Singh, the President of the Supreme Court Bar
Association made the revelation during the virtual farewell of Chief Justice Sharad Arvind
Bobde. The senior advocate further revealed that the actor was happy to
mediate but the process did not work out.

Former top court judge FMI Kalifulla, Spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravishankar
and senior lawyer Sriram Panchu were the three Supreme Court-appointed
mediation panel members.

After several failed rounds of mediation panel, the Supreme Court pronounced judgement in the case in 2019.

The apex court handed over the site in Ayodhya, claimed by
both Hindus and Muslims for decades, for the building of a Ram temple and
ordered that Muslims be given alternative land for a mosque.
