Delhi University to resume offline classes from tomorrow; check guidelines

  • Students should have at least received one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine
  • Hostel residents to receive both the COVID-19 doses
  • Attendance for these classes is not mandatory.

The Delhi University will on Wednesday (September 15) resume classes in offline mode. Colleges, departments and centres will reopen for practical classes for the students of final year undergraduate and postgraduate students.

However, theory classes will continue to be held online and attendance to the offline practical classes is not mandatory.

It is reportedly said that the university is set to reopen in phases from tomorrow and will allow students to attend classes with 50 percent attendance.

While announcing the reopening dates, officials of the Delhi University said that the students attending the offline classes should have at least received one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The students who are to live in hostels should however be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Both teaching and non-teaching staff attending the classes should be fully vaccinated.

Only those experiments and practical, the DU guidelines on reopening added, would be held which are essential for the upcoming semester.

Also, if the same premise is shared for conducting classes by a DU Evening College and Morning College, a conducive timetable to hold the physical classes should be followed by the colleges, the DU statement added.

Following a marked improvement in the COVID-19 situation, the Delhi government had on August allowed schools for Classes 9 to 12, colleges and coaching institutions to reopen from September 1.

Here is a list of detailed guidelines:

a. Both doses of COVID-19 vaccination should be received by Teaching and Non-Teaching staff.

b. Students who are visiting the college, departments, the university should have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccines.

c. It is essential for hostel residents to receive both the COVID-19 doses.

d. It should be noted that theory classes for both Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses will be held online until further notification.

e. With regards to visiting libraries, departments might give respective slots to students to visit libraries.

f. Final year UG and PG students will be allowed to attend practical and library classes from tomorrow.

g. Classes will resume with 50 percent capacity. Only those experiments, practical that are essential for the upcoming semester would be conducted by DU.

h. Students should note that attending physical classes is optional.

i. Attendance for these classes is not mandatory. 

j. If the same premise is shared for conducting classes by an Evening College and Morning College, a conductive timetable for taking physical classes should be followed by the colleges.
