Desi Power: Priyanka Chopra hails Priya Ahluwalia, recipient of Queen Elizabeth II Award

Actor Priyanka Chopra shared her favourite moment from just concluded London Fashion Week and it has to do with fashion designer Priya Ahluwalia.

“One of my favourite moments this season was seeing Priya Ahluwalia winning Queen Elizabeth II Award for British design for her efforts to make fashion industry a better place,” wrote the ‘Quantico’ actor in her Instagram story.

While using the hashtag #desipower, she also wrote that Priya “creates sustainable collection influences by her Indian and Nigerian heritage.”

Born in south-west London to a father of Nigerian descent and a mother from India, Priya was presented with Queen Elizabeth’s trophy for her work as of one of London’s young champions of sustainability and diversity

During the final day of London Fashion Week on February 24, she had a conversation with Sophie, Countess of Wessex, about her design ideologies and her future in fashion.

The Queen inaugurated the award in 2018 for talented emerging designers who are “making a difference to society through either sustainable practices or community engagement”, reports Vogue.com.
