Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ mints Rs 27.5 crore in India

Off to a promising start, Marvel Studios’ ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ garnered Rs. 27.5 crore on its first day at the Indian box office, according to film trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
Starring Benedict Cumberbatch, the film has managed to surpass its 2016 original ‘Doctor Strange’, which amassed merely Rs 2.61 crore on its first day, and Rs. 25 crore as its lifetime collection.
However, the latest Marvel release’s opening falls a little short of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, which started off by making Rs. 33 crore on its first day in the country.

Nonetheless, the film could be on its way to uncrown Prashanth Neel’s ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ at the box office.

In the United States, the film opened at the box office with $36 million in Thursday previews. According to speculations, it could cross the $175 million mark during the weekend. In advance ticket sales, the film has earned $60 million, according to a report by Collider.

The second installment stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr Stephen Strange, also known as Sorcerer Supreme. The film revolves around Dr Strange’s attempts to overcome the challenges of the spell he cast on the multiverse in the 2021 film ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, which resulted in antagonists invading the timeline of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ is directed by Sam Raimi. It stars Rachel McAdams, Michael Stuhlbarg, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong and Xochitl Gomez.
