Wriddhiman Saha, who was dropped from India’s Test team for the series verus Sri Lanka, lashed out at Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly. The wicket-keeper batsman said that the former India skipper had claimed that he should not worry about his place in the team but ‘everything changed so fast’.

Saha on Saturday also revealed that the team management headed by head coach Rahul Dravid had told him to think about retirement as he won’t be considered for selection henceforth.

His explosive remarks about the coach and BCCI president came on the day India’s squad for the Sri Lanka series was announced. Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara and Ishant Sharma were other established Test players dropped from the side.

The Sri Lanka Tests series, starting March 4, will mark comeback of all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who has recovered from a knee injury. Shubman Gill too has recovered from shin stress fracture.

Talking abouut Ganguly, Saha said, “When I hit an unbeaten 61 taking a pain-killer in the first Test against New Zealand in Kanpur last November, Dadi (as Sourav was referred to by Bengal players) congratulated me over Whatsapp.”

He further added that the BCCI President’s message really boosted his confidence.

“He even mentioned that I should not worry about anything so long as he is at the helm of the BCCI. Such a message from the board president really boosted my confidence. But I failed to understand why everything changed so fast,” he added.
