Jitan Ram Manjhi, former chief minister of the state, was once again elected from the constituency in 2020. He was the sitting MLA from Hindustani Awam Morcha from the constituency. Manjhi, who served as 23rd CM of Bihar from May 2014 to February 2015, had also contested elections Mukhadumapur in 2015 but lost to Subedar Das of RJD.
