France supports India’s candidacy for UN Security Council: French defence minister
- The Rafale induction ceremony was attended by French minister Florence Parly
- "Rafale will help IAF touch the sky," she said
- In strategic terms, India will have an edge to defend itself in the region, the French Defence Minister added
The Indian Air Force (IAF) on Thursday inducted five Rafale fighter jets into 17 squadron ‘Golden Arrow’ at an event held at the Ambala air base in Haryana. The event was attended Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, his French counterpart Florence Parly, Chief of Defence Staff Gen Bipin Rawat, Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria and Defence Secretary Ajay Kumar and several other dignitaries.

“Today is a stellar achievement for both countries. It is an honour for us to attend the beautiful ceremony. India is a unique land of vibrant colours. In strategic terms, India will have an edge to defend itself in the region. Rafale will help IAF touch the sky,” French Defence Minister Florence Parly said. She added that France supports India’s candidacy for UN Security Council.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said this will strengthen defence ties between India and France. He added, “The induction of Rafale jets is a gamechanger for national defence.”
