Glenn Maxwell on Wednesday scored the second-fastest century in the history of the Big Bash League (BBL). The Melbourne Stars captain took 41 balls to complete the ton. He smashed 13 fours and 3 sixes en route to the hundred. He then extended his innings to an unbeaten 154 off 64 balls, his highest individual score in the Australian franchise-based T20 league. His mind-boggling innings also featured five fours in an over.

Melbourne Stars set a 274 runs target for Hobart Hurricanes.

Maxwell, who is known for his stroke-making skills, came to open the innings against Hobart Hurricanes Wednesday night. The right-handed batter reached the fifty mark off just 20 balls and continued to wreck havoc on Hurricanes bowlers as Stars registered a massive win in Melbourne.

In the third over of Melbourne Stars’ innings, Maxwell slammed spinner Sandeep Lamichhane for 18 runs and completed his half-century in the sixth over of the innings.

Joe Clarke, who opened the innings with Maxwell, played an important 35-run knock off just 18 balls as the duo built 97 runs partnership in merely seven overs.

Maxwell completed his hundred in the 11th over of the Melbourne Stars’ innings. He flicked a slower ball against Jordan Thompson. In the same over, he lost Nick Larkin at the other end. However, Maxwell remained unfazed by the fall of two quick wickets at the other end. He managed a strike rate of above 200 throughout his innings.

Marcus Stoinis, who came to bat at no.4, also slammed a half-century in only 23 deliveries. Stoinis finished the innings, scoring unbeaten on 75.

In the 18th over of the innings, Maxwell slammed Lamichhane for five successive fours. With a two on the final delivery of the over, the right-handed batter registered the highest-ever individual score in the history of the Big Bash League.

Watching Maxwell play a typical knock, legendary Shane Warne applauded the Australian star.
