Gyanpur assembly constituency of UP was won by Nirval Indian Shoshit Hamara Aam Dal (NINSHAD) in 2017. Their candidate Vijay Mishra won by a margin of 20230 votes beating BJP’s Mahendra Kumar Bind.

BJP had won 312 out if UP’s 403 assembly seats in 2017, earning an absolute majority and ousting Samajwadi Party, appointing Yogi Adityanath as UP’s CM.

Gyanpur is one the five assembly constituencies in the Bhadohi Lok Sabha constituency. Since 2008, this assembly constituency has numbered 392 amongst 403 constituencies.

In 2012, Samajwadi Party’s Vijay Kumar won, defeating Dinesh Kumae Singh by 37674 votes. SP won the elections back then with 224 seats, with BSP coming in second with 80 seats, BJP with 47 seats and Congress with 28.

Currently, the Samajwadi Party led by Akhislesh Yadav has come in second with 47 seats behind BJP. Mayawati’s BSP coming third with 19 seats and Congress with 7 seats.
