Ahead of the Joe Biden-Kamala Harris inauguration ceremony on January 20, locals in Thulasendrapuram, the native village of the mother of US Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, lit diyas to wish her good luck.
President-elect Joe Biden won the closely-fought November 3 race, winning 306 of the 538 electoral votes and beating incumbent candidate Donald Trump. Trump, who refused to concede for over a month, has recently been accused of inciting the January 6 insurrection at the US Capitol complex. He was impeached by the House of Representatives for the second time.
President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris will be sworn in on January 20, in a ‘toned down’ inauguration ceremony.
