IPL 2022: Eliminated Chennai Super Kings play for pride vs Gujarat Titans

The Chennai Super Kings don’t have much to play for, except pride. MS Dhoni and co are out of the IPL 2022 playoff race. They face the Gujarat Titans at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.
CSK’s playoff hopes were crushed by arch-rivals Mumbai Indians when Rohit Sharma and co inflicted a five-wicket loss on the defending champions. Both the teams are now out of the race for the final four.

Against MI, CSK were dismissed for 97 runs. All their batters, except MS Dhoni, failed to fire. After the loss, the defending champions are placed seventh on the IPL 2022 points table with four wins and eight losses.
Gujarat Titans, on the other hand, have already qualified for the playoffs. They will want to win against the Chennai Super Kings to ensure a top two finish. Hardik Pandya and co are currently at the top of the table with 18 points from 12 games.

GT come to the game vs CSK after a win against the Lucknow Super Giants. For them, opener Shubman Gill coming back into form is good news. Hardik Pandya David Miller, Wriddhiman Saha and Rahul Tewatia are also firing.
Shami, the team’s highest taker with 16 scalps, has been lethal upfront, while Ferguson’s ability to generate pace is a cause of concern for any batting line-up.
