It was their seventh win in IPL 2022. With this win, LSG moved up to second position while DC remain sixth with eight points from nine matches. DC won four matches and lost five so far.

Earlier winning the toss, Lucknow Super Giants opted to bat and got off to a good start from their openers Rahul and Quinton de Kock, who scored 23 off 13 balls. Captain Rahul hit five sixes and four boundaries to play a blitzkrieg knock.

Shardul Thakur gave DC their first breakthrough in the form of de Kock in the fifth over. After that Rahul formed a 95-run second-wicket partnership with Deepak Hooda, who scored a 34-ball 52. The right-handed batter smashed six fours and a six. The partnership helped LSG to post a massive 195 for 3 in 20 overs.

Shardul Thakur was the only DC bowler to take wickets. His three scalps – de Kock, Rahul and Hooda – came at a cost of 40 runs.

When Delhi Capitals came to chase the target, they lost opener Prithvi Shaw and David Warner early with Dushmantha Chameera and Mohsin Khan taking the wickets.

Mitchell Marsh (37 off 20) and Rishabh Pant (44 off 30 balls) shared a 60-run partnership to rebuild DC’s innings. But two wickets in two back-to-back overs put DC in big trouble again. Krishnappa Gowtham dismissed Marsh in the first ball of the eighth over while Ravi Bishnoi bowled over Lalit Yadav for 3 in the ninth over.

Rovman Powell was Delhi Capitals’ last hope. The right-handed batter was well on his trajectory to take DC home. He hit two sixes and three boundaries but with Mohsin Khan dismissing him in the 17th over DC were out of the game. Axar Patel was unbeaten on 42 as DC were restricted to 189 for 7.
