IPL 2022: MS Dhoni’s gift makes MI youngster’s day | Watch

Chennai Super Kings were knocked out of IPL 2022 when they faced a five-wicket defeat in the hands of Mumbai Indians earlier this week. Both the teams, with two matches remaining in the league stage, will not go to the playoffs.

A lethal bowling performance by the Mumbai Indians saw CSK dismissed for 97 runs at the Wankhede Stadium. It was the second lowest total by MS Dhoni and co in IPL history. Rohit Sharma’s men lost five wickets during the chase but rode on Tilak Varma’s unbeaten 34 off 32 balls to cross the line with 31 balls to spare.
It is only the second time Chennai have failed to make it to the IPL playoffs. The first was in 2020, when they finished seventh.

Despite the loss, CSK captain MS Dhoni made Mumbai Indians’ spinner Kumar Kartikeya Singh’s day. The veteran wicket-keeper batter signed tha match ball for the youngster. He also signed CSK jerseys for MI players and support staff.
Kartikeya had played a pivotal role in Mumbai Indians’ win vs CSK. He took two wickets – Dwayne Bravo and Simarjeet Singh – for 22 runs in his three overs. He was excited after getting Dhoni’s sign on the match ball.

Mumbai Indians shared the video of Kartikeya entering the dressing room with the ball.
“Imagine getting a signed MS Dhoni match ball #TATAIPL – Truly a tournament where talent meets opportunity!” the Paltan wrote in the caption.

Chennai Super Kings stand at the ninth rung of the IPL 2022 points table with four wins and eight losses. Mumbai are at the bottom with three and nine out of their 12 matches.
