IPL 2022: Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma reveals favourite footballer, best memory of La Liga

Rohit Sharma on Wedesday revealed his favourite football player and best memory of the La Liga (Spain’s first tier competition). The Mumbai Indians captain was speaking ahead of his side’s game against the Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday at the MCA Stadium, Pune.

Sharma is the India’s official ambassador for La Liga. The 34-year-old had in 2020 been to Spain to watch the El Clasico game between Barcelona and Real Madrid. The Indian captain admitted that the match is his best La Liga memory.
Rohit Sharma further revealed that his favourite football player is former Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane. The 49-year-old represented France in four World Cups. He won the Ballon d’Or award in 1998.

“I would say live, I went to El Clasico in 2020, just before COVID struck. We were there in Madrid to watch the Real Madrid and Barcelona game. So that was my best-ever memory of La Liga so far. I want to create more memories with La Liga, but now because we play so many games, and there are so many restrictions right now. I’m not able to travel there and experience it,” Sharma said during a conversation with ANI.
Mumbai Indians, under Rohit Sharma’s leadership, have lost both their matches in IPL 2022. They are placed on the eighth rung of the points table. The skipper has scored 51 runs in the season so far.
The five-time champions were first defeated by the Delhi Capitals by four wickets and then lost against the Rajasthan Royals by 23 runs.
