The dates for the Indian Premier League 2023 are closing in and franchises are already coming up with ideas on how to get through the auction.
Most franchises have already finalised their retention lists, with a mini-auction set to take place on December 16, according to a report from InsideSport. Franchises have been told by the BCCI to send their final lists by November 16. Teams have a total salary purse of Rs 95 crore.
As the T20I World Cup 2022 is currently in progress, franchises are likely keeping an eye on all the teams playing. Some Indian players in particular are going to be on every organisation’s radar. Here are three Indian players who are likely to cause a bidding war.

Arshdeep Singh
Retained by the Punjab Kings for 4 crores before IPL 2022, the pacer has done well at this year’s T20I World Cup. While his IPL stats aren’t reflective of that, his on ground performance is a different matter altogether. In this year’s version of the IPL, he took 10 wickets in 14 matches, compared to his run in the T20 World Cup this year, where’s he has taken 7 wickets in 3 matches.
He currently occupies the Number 10 spot on the leaderboard for most wickets.
Virat Kohli
The former Indian skipper stepped down as the captain for the Royal Challengers Bangalore last year, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the franchise will get rid of him.
Despite a lackluster IPL 2022 season with 309 runs over 14 matches, he has come into this year’s T20 World Cup in decent shape, cementing India’s win over Pakistan in the country’s opening game.
Suryakumar Yadav
A Mumbai Indians batsmen, the last three seasons of the IPL have been one of consistent performance by Suryakumar Yadav. Even though he’s a middle-order batsman, he has ensured strong performances for the franchise.
There are reports that he is likely to be next in line as the replacement for Rohit Sharma. Yadav is also the second-highest Indian scorer behind Kohli at the T20I World Cup, with 134 runs from 3 games.
