Jhulan Goswami received a guard of honour during India’s third ODI against England women on Saturday at the iconic Lords’ stadium in London.
The incident occurred during the game’s first innings when the 39-year-old player came out to bat at no. 9 in the 40th over. India had a 2-0 lead and were trying to put up a strong fight in the final game at 148/7 when the renowned pacer came out to bat.

Goswami entered the field to bat and found the English players forming the iconic guard of honour lines to commemorate the legendary cricketer, who has contributed over 20 years of her life to world cricket. Goswami thanked the English players, who were applauding in unison for their opponent, by raising her right hand in gratitude. The crowd erupted in cheers and claps as they witnessed the Indian bowling legend, affectionately known as ‘Chakdah Express,’ perform her finals. Deepti Sharma, who was at the crease when Goswami came out to bat, joined the England players in presenting her with a guard of honour.
Goswami, who was never known for her batting abilities, had an anti-climactic end to her final innings when she was out for a first-ball duck. Freya Kemp bowled her out after the batter managed to play the wrong line of a full-length delivery.

Goswami, who made her debut in 2002, dedicated over 20 years of her life to the Indian women’s cricket team, which played three World Cup finals (two ODIs) during what could be considered the best period in the national women’s team’s history. They also won a landmark silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham earlier this year.
Jhulan Goswami has the most wickets in women’s international cricket across all formats. The right-arm fast bowler has 353 wickets and also holds the World Cup record for highest wickets.
She has set numerous records for India over the last two decades, appearing in 284 matches. With 353 international wickets, Goswami is currently the world’s foremost wicket-taker. She has taken 253 wickets in 203 ODIs, 44 wickets in 12 Tests, and 56 wickets in 56 Tests (68 T20Is).
