Buttler backs Samson as RR captain, says ‘has brilliant cricket brain’

Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings are all set for their first IPL match this season on Monday, April 12, at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Royals are eyeing towards clinching the match against KL Rahul-led Punjab Kings. However, before the match, RR player Jos Buttler stated that the team might face challenges because of Sanju Samson’s lack of experience but backed him by saying that he “has a brilliant cricket brain.”
Keeper-batsman Sanju Samson was trusted with captaincy earlier this year after Steve Smith was released from the team. Batsman Jos Buttler said, “I think the biggest challenge for Samson would just be the lack of experience of doing it before.”

However, Buttler added that Samson has a brilliant cricket brain and shall trust his instincts and lead from the front. The 30-year-old batsman-keeper said that there are many senior players in the squad as well and the Samson could use the experience on the field.
Rajasthan Royals won its first and only IPL title in 2008 under the captaincy of Australian legend Shane Warne. This time, the weight of the captaincy has been put on a youngster and it will be interesting to see how he leads the team on field.

On the other side, Punjab Kings will be headed by skipper KL Rahul and the team would look to take advantage of his experience against international players.
