Karnataka cabinet minister Ramesh Jarkiholi on Wednesday tendered his resignation from his post in the wake of his alleged involvement in a sex tape case. His resignation letter reads,  ‘Allegation against me is far from truth. As fair investigation should take place, I’m resigning on moral grounds.” His resignation has been accepted by Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa.

On Tuesday, video clips started doing rounds on news channels that showed Ramesh, the MLA from Gokak, getting intimate with an unidentified woman. He has been accused of asking for sexual favours in return for a government job and a complaint was filed by an activist against him on Tuesday.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister CN Ashwath Narayan on Wednesday said the motive behind the sex tape case that allegedly involves cabinet minister Ramesh Jarkiholi is “treachery, vendetta, honey trap, and blackmailing.”

He said the truth will come out after investigation, as Karnataka Home Minister B Bommai said that an inquiry into the sex tape case is being conducted as per law. “Our Party will take a decision on taking action against him,” the state home minister said.

Jarkiholi’s brother and BJP MLA, Balachandra Jarkiholi sought a CBI probe into the sexual harassment allegation against the Karnataka Water Resources Minister. He also threatened to file Rs 100 crore against those who released the “fake CD,” reports ANI.

Balachandra, after meeting Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, asserted that Ramesh should not resign if he has not done anything wrong, adding that a thorough investigation needs to be done to find out the people behind the CD.
