In his book ‘Reminiscences of the Nehru Age, Mathai wrote about his experiences as the private secretary to Jawaharlal Nehru, in the brief span when the Janata alliance ousted Indira Gandhi from the Union Government. The book is divided into 49 chapters that talk about political steps, controversies and in the general experience of working with Nehru, the Congress leader at the time.
Jawaharlal Nehru was the first Prime Minister of India and belonged to the famous political Nehru clan. He was the son of Motilal Nehru and the father of Indira Gandhi.
