Kerala Governor Arif Muhammad Khan has signed the ordinance to revoke amendments to Kerala Police Act, reports ANI. This comes a day after the Pinarayi Vijayan-led state government decided to bring out an ordinance to withdraw the amendment, Section 118A to Kerala Police Act on Tuesday.

A special cabinet, which met on Tuesday afternoon, decided to recommend the Kerala Governor to issue an ordinance to repeal the Section 118A,  brought by the left front government that got his assent on Saturday.

“Cabinet has decided to bring out an ordinance to withdraw the amendment,” government sources told PTI.

The Kerala governor had said that the act ordinance for the addition of Section 118A to the Kerala Police Act envisaged preventing cyber attacks against women and children.

Opposition parties and even Left sympathisers had slammed the ordinance, saying it was against the freedom of speech and media.
