The teaser of Khufiya, the latest film by Indian writer-director Vishal Bhardwaj, was released during the India preview of Tudum 2022, a global fan event where around 100+ upcoming content from streaming giant Netflix are being introduced to the world. Besides Khufiya, the India preview gave us glimpses into shows and movies like Class, Kathal, Scoop, CAT, and others.
Khufiya is Bhardwaj’s second OTT output after Modern Love: Mumbai, an anthology series in which one of the episodes was directed by the ace filmmaker. The film centres around Tabu’s character, Krishna Mehra, a spy working for the R&AW. When tasked with handling a critical mission, her dual identity of a spy and a lover is put to test. Khufiya’s release date has not yet been announced by the producers or makers of the film.
The film’s teaser comes with the caption: “The mystery of the unknown and the road that leads to the solving of the said mystery, both are waiting.”

Vishal Bhardwaj has treated his fans to some of the most beloved Hindi movies of the 21st century, like his trilogy on Shakespeare’s tragic heroes, Maqbool (Macbeth), Omkara (Othello), and Haider (Hamlet). He can switch genres effortlessly, having wooed audiences with the 2002 comedy-horror film Makdee, which saw Shabana Azmi portray a witch.
The 57-year-old filmmaker has made two movies on Ruskin Bond stories- his third feature film Blue Umbrella, and an adaptation of the writer’s short story Susanna’s Seven Husbands, Saat Khoon Maaf, which stars Priyanka Chopra in the lead role.
