Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday, ANI reported. He was admitted to the All India Institute Of Medical Science’s (AIIMS) COVID Centre for observation on Saturday. He was stable, the hospital said.

India on Saturday recorded 43,846 new cases, taking the country’s total tally to over 1.15 crore cases. Saturday’s tally was the highest spike in the country since November.
